Duodji
The experience of generations and knowledge of what is practical, simple and harmonious - part of everyday life, touching beauty in a daily relationship to the land, the past, the future.. In 1962 the sale of Sámi handicrafts as souvenirs began.
A woman gives out a handicraft visitor's card to map out presence in each location. Rich coloured and ornamented daily things surprise and encourage in the monochrome nature.

What does the handicraft tradition mean for Sami people? National pride or survival kit? Or good combination of both? Walking throught the main and only street you can see on the one side church, information centre, bar-hotel, and Siida museum but on another - more then 6 handicraft shops and 2 regular supermarkets. Isn't it a big number for a 700-people village?
